Wondering if the group you're researching has an affiliation with the UN? Does it have general or special consultative status enabling it to have special access to UN meetings and commissions?
If it's the World Wide Fund for Nature, or the American Society of International Law, or the International Chamber of Commerce, you'll find it on this list...Click here
It's gone out of fashion to label yourself or others these days, and no wonder. It can be hard to know what your political affiliation is when progressives are socialists, libertarians come in all flavors across the spectrum, and independents try to find their way out of the maze without stepping in anything.
Now you'll get your choice of a Bush or a Clinton again as the game continues. Whoopee, we get to vote for a woman. As a feminist in the 80's I lost my enthusiasm for gender-based voting when Margaret Thatcher took over the UK. Genitalia doesn't guarantee a viewpoint. In fact, voting on that basis is a fool's game. When Hilary ran the last time I said "Who better than a woman to take our rights away?" Well, we saw the answer to that with Obama. The illusion of concern for your rights is all that's necessary when the regime has a 'show Congress' and a fascist game plan. That game plan includes green energy and climate action plans regardless of political party or gender when you're playing 'The Price is Right' with our lives.
Putting on a green mask and promising the green new deal is a sure way to enrich the tech/energy companies and drain ratepayers and taxpayers while ensuring big campaign contributions. Yes, it's loan guarantees for solar farms and wind farms, huge cash grants through production tax credits (over $8 billion dollars by 2012), and over $15 billion in treasury grants for wind. The new green deal stinks like festering slime in an algae encrusted pool.
You're about to see carbon credits used as the new medium of exchange on a personal level---use more than your water allotment? Go to the local water exchange to buy enough credits for your vegetable garden. Meanwhile the huge corporate farms will be making 'donations' to Congress and the environmental groups that are pushing these new green requirements for your future poverty. Artificial scarcity. Loss of independence. Pay more for that power than ever before while using less. Ahh, the joys of the Smart Grid.
What happens while your government partners with the power generators and the huge corporations and the environmental foundations? Your credits can be cut, your allotments can be reduced, your debt will be increased, your options narrowed. Going green. When you're promised something for nothing you'd better do your research and ask the hard questions.
The green mask looks good---that's why it's so appealing. When you look behind it, it doesn't pass the smell test. You'll be up to your ankles in the green pool while holding a live wire. Zap.
IT DOESN'T COME WITH FLASHING LIGHTS AND IT WON'T BE CALLED UN AGENDA 21. BUT IT IS.
Debt for Nature. Club of Paris agreement (1990 Houston terms) to have debtor nations manage their debt by converting it to 'conservation projects' for their creditors' benefit. Now we see that the China Connection in Nevada has the distinct odor of Debt for Nature.
To get a bit more perspective on the concept let's take a look at an interview with 'anti-anthropologist' Professor Maurice Bloch, as quoted in Eurozine (click to read)
Maurice Bloch: "To that I would add one thing that I think is very important. That is that in Madagascar, the development experts are being replaced by conservationists who wield tremendous power. They are largely motivated by some general kind of ideologies about ecology in the world, about preserving forests or some species, which is obviously a good idea. But what they really want is to have large reserves in places like Madagascar. They want to turn the whole country into a national park. Countries like Madagascar are hugely indebted. And European and North-American countries perform a kind of blackmail, which they call "swapping debt for nature". If you'll have natural parks then we'll drop the debt. And of course, the Malagassy government can't resist. The Malagassy elite are quite happy to have as many natural parks as the wealthy countries like, because the parks bring experts and the experts bring their money. But for the local people, it means that their land is just being taken away. They are not allowed to cultivate their land anymore. And they say, quite rightly, "the land has gone to the Americans". Villagers see their field on the other side of the fence; if they go to their field they will be fined or imprisoned, while they see American or European natural scientists wandering around on it. It's a terrible situation.
"Those anthropologists who work there have denounced very strongly what is going on in ecology. But they find that because of the power and self-righteousness of the ecological discourse, it is difficult to get heard. "
Now think about China's connection to the US in terms of debt.
This is US law:
Global Environmental Protection Assistance Act of 1989
Title 22, Chapter 32, Subchapter I, Part VII, Section 2281
Sec. 2281. - ''Debt-for-nature exchange'' defined
For purpose of this part, the term ''debt-for-nature exchange'' means the cancellation or redemption of the foreign debt of the government of a country in exchange for -
(1) that government's making available local currencies (including through the issuance of bonds) which are used only for eligible projects involving the conservation or protection of the environment in that country (as described in section 2283 of this title); or
(2) that government's financial resource or policy commitment to take certain specified actions to ensure the restoration, protection, or sustainable use of natural resources within that country; or
(3) a combination of assets and actions under both paragraphs (1) and (2)

Our groups, Democrats Against UN Agenda 21, and Post Sustainability Institute, and I have been label as 'extremists' by the Southern Poverty Law Center for the second year in a row. They have written a report entitled Agenda 21: The UN, Sustainability, and Right-wing Conspiracy Theory. Aside from the fact that the SPLC is using the tactics they accuse others of using in order to supplement their huge financials assets (over $250 million) and elicit reactions from those on the left who don't do their own homework, it is important to note that they offer 'briefings' to law enforcement personnel and are members of the American Bar Association. The ethics of labeling a group of law-abiding citizens who are exercising their First Amendment rights as 'extremists' who are 'not necessarily advocating violence' are in serious question here. This is not a 'report,' this is a smear designed to chill our civil rights. WE WILL NOT BE SILENT.
This morning CSPAN aired a panel discussion at USC's Annenberg School of Journalism between whistleblowers Daniel Ellsberg, Tom Drake, Jesselyn Radack (attorney for Snowden) and Robert Scheer, USC professor sponsored by the Government Accountability Project. YOU HAVE THE GUTS TO SPEAK OUT. DO IT.
On the same day that activists met from all over the United States for a showdown at the Bundy Corral, soldiers from the newly minted Ukrainian army rode into eastern Ukraine to take it back.
In both situations the controversy made it hard for many to tell the good guys from the bad guys. Classic Agenda 21.
Cliven Bundy and his many supporters have said that they do not recognize the federal authority over his historic grazing rights.
Eastern Ukrainians 'ethnic Russians' have said that they do not recognize the authority of the new Ukrainian government to overturn their vote to secede and join Russia.
In Ukraine, poorly prepared western Ukrainian troops in tanks rode into the east thinking that they would just take over, and got the shock of their lives. Crowds of people holding glasses of vodka and smoking cigarettes surrounded the tanks and shamed the soldiers right out of them. They clambered into the armored vehicles and drove them into the town square where they did donuts and laughed.
In Nevada, the federal snipers and Bureau of Land Management personnel pulled out when faced with hundreds of armed constitutionalists and many more on the way.
In both cases the dominant government forces have been repelled by the people. In both cases soldiers did not fire on their own people. How long will that last? Regardless of where you come down on these issues, one thing is clear. It won't be a cakewalk. The people will resist.
Regime Change is UN Agenda 21. Anything to destroy the equilibrium of the status quo. Whether it's Arab Spring or Ukraine or the United States, the goal is to gain control of power and direct it to a more technologically controllable outcome. Restricting our access to land, rights to water, property ownership, free speech, assembly, privacy--all is UN Agenda 21.
AWARENESS IS THE FIRST STEP IN THE RESISTANCE.
As reported in the Daily Beast (click here for smear story)
"SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER
Active ‘Patriot’ Groups in the United States in 2013
The Intelligence Project identified 1,096 anti-government “Patriot” groups that were active in 2013.
Generally, Patriot groups define themselves as opposed to the “New World Order,” engage in groundless conspiracy theorizing, or advocate or adhere to extreme antigovernment doctrines. Listing here does not imply that the groups themselves advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist.
The list was compiled from field reports, Patriot publications, the Internet, law enforcement sources and news reports."
Democrats Against UN Agenda 21 and the Post Sustainability Institute are, again, on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of Patriot groups. The criteria for making this list are quite interesting. The SPLC purports to identify hate groups and to advocate for those who are being discriminated against or targeted for violence. The SPLC mainly focuses on skinhead groups and anti-gay groups but they're branching out and including us in their scope. Why?
If you look at what they say above, the criteria for list selection include opposing the New World Order (does SPLC support it?), 'groundless' conspiracy theorizing (SPLC refuses to acknowledge objective reality), and advocating or adhering to 'extreme anti-government doctrines' (like life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?).
There was a time in the past when, as gay people, we might have donated to SPLC. About 25% of their website is devoted to fundraising for themselves. They engage in spreading misinformation about UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development and are themselves representing the New World Order by targeting groups who would re-erect the guarantees of the US Constitution. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness extends beyond racial and social lines. Our government exists to protect the individual. Our rights to free speech, to our property, to our privacy---guaranteed by the Constitution. The term 'Patriots,' according to the SPLC, is now under suspicion, and those who question government tactics and object to subversion, manipulation, privacy invasion, and 'transformation' are targeted on their list.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is a fraud and a sham. Although they have a disclaimer that they don't imply that we advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist they are fully aware that targeting us on their list may serve to chill our civil rights or turn people against us. They are engaging in their own brand of hate speech. It might help their fundraising but it also shines a light on their bias and willingness to go along to get along with liberty-destroying regimes. The Southern Poverty Law Center purports to have some familiarity with Nazi tactics. Perhaps too much.
LIES AND DISINFORMATION ON UN AGENDA 21 IS UN AGENDA 21
In meetings across California, unelected and unaccountable regulators are setting up networks of regional government that are usurping local control from you and your duly elected city, county, community and other local officials. These regional bodies are not acting in the “public good” but are reinventing a government that strips property rights away from legitimate property owners and instead gives them to a chosen few under the auspices of programs such as “sustainable development”, ”smart growth” and “public-private partnerships.”
Are you a property owner? Do you value local control of your communities by your duly elected officials? If so, then the time to act is NOW!

Facebook's CEO Mark Zuckerberg is betting $2 billion that you'll prefer virtual reality to the real thing. He has just invested in Oculus, a company that makes headsets for virtual reality personal imaging. The 'story' is that this is all about gaming but it's not a big leap to virtual classrooms, virtual travel, virtual relationships, and virtual meals. What does this mean for your future?
It's not a new idea to say that internet use is habit-forming. You've also experienced or witnessed the gaming 'addiction' either personally or in your family members. Now get ready for obsession on steroids with virtual reality. When you put on this headset your body will respond to the 3D images as if they are truly reality. If you're wearing it and you look down you'll see your feet -- but they'll be the feet of the supermodel you see when you look in the virtual mirror. When you look up you'll see the cosmos through the space capsule window, or the Sistine Chapel ceiling as you walk alone through the building. Lift the virtual fork to your virtual mouth and eat the gorgeous meal in Paris. Look into the eyes of your virtual partner as you profess eternal love. Walk across a tightrope over a deep canyon. Kill an enemy.
Your palms will sweat, your heart will beat faster, your eyes will dilate, your lungs will suck in air more deeply, and your nervous system will respond. Although your physical responses with the current virtual reality headset are not exactly like they would be if the experience were real, the future will most certainly include smells and sensations---like the 'Feelies' described in Huxley's Brave New World. The addition of these sense stimulators will fool the brain.
Yes, it's a movie, a 3D virtual surround movie, but your body will respond as if it were real. Your brain will believe that it is real. It will, in fact, be far more appealing than your actual un-virtual life. The stimulation your brain receives will be thrilling, and you'll be content to sit strapped in your chair living your virtual life. Is this a fantasy? No. Look at this 1978 study in Science Magazine stating that Rhesus monkeys, when caged and given the choice of food or cocaine, chose cocaine 'almost exclusively.' The addiction to virtual experience may likely lead to people sitting at their computers starving to death in their Smart Growth unit. Who needs living space or transportation when they're strapped to a virtual reality unit? Who needs relationships or families or pets when virtual reality is so much more satisfying and uncomplicated? Children will be extremely vulnerable to this fabulous new life---virtual teachers in virtual classrooms will teach limited learning for lifelong labor. Rewards for correct behavior may be virtual, but the brain and body will accept them as real. Real personal interaction will be miserably inadequate when compared to the ecstatic joys of virtual life.
According to Stanford Professor Jeremy Bailenson, whose book Infinite Reality examines all aspects of virtual reality research, the time is coming when holograms will be in use by average people--you'll be able to take a virtual walk with a friend in real time and that friend will appear to be with you. You won't be able to trust your eyes when you see what appears to be reality. There will be no objective reality.
Just like you asked for Facebook, and begged for smart phones, and jumped on Second Life, you'll love the novelty of virtual reality---until it is no longer a novelty. It will be a health care requirement to provide virtual reality to the handicapped, it will be used to perform mental health assessments, it will be a virtual teacher and a virtual classroom to billions, it will be used to keep prisoners quiet, it will be used to dumb down and pacify the populace. It is the face of UN Agenda 21.
Can you resist or will you accept it as an inevitability?
RESIST SOCIAL MANIPULATION.
THIS IS UN AGENDA 21.

There's a video on youtube of a woman speaking; saying that she was there at Rio in 1992 and George H. W. Bush did not agree to UN Agenda 21. Sorry, this is false.
Here is George H.W. Bush's press conference speech following his agreement to UN Agenda 21:
From President George HW Bush's news conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil June 13, 1992:
"We've signed a climate convention. We've asked others to join us in presenting action plans for the implementation of the climate convention. We've won agreement on forest principles. We found a warm reception among the G - 7 and many developing countries to our Forests for the Future initiative. Many U.S. proposals on oceans and public participation on the importance of economic instruments and free markets were included in this mammoth Agenda 21 document and the Rio Declaration.
"Let me be clear on one fundamental point. The United States fully intends to be the world's preeminent leader in protecting the global environment. We have been that for many years. We will remain so. We believe that environment and development, the two subjects of this Conference, can and should go hand in hand. A growing economy creates the resources necessary for environmental protection, and environmental protection makes growth sustainable over the long term. I think that recognition of that fact by leaders from around the world is the central accomplishment of this important Rio Conference."
I was just reading a 1999 government report from Australia entitled "Our Community Our Future: A Guide to Local Agenda 21" (click here for a link to the PDF). It's a handy little document with lots of suggestions for how change agents can be found and developed throughout the government and 'community.'
You'll be interested to read through this regardless of which country you're in, because you'll find it to reflect policy and behavior in your town. In fact you'll find that your life is now under complete scrutiny and you are being judged, measured, managed, manipulated, and surveilled in accordance with Agenda 21. The Plan is designed for that purpose: FULL GLOBALIZATION REQUIRES STANDARDIZATION OF ALL SYSTEMS WORLDWIDE. ALL ACTIVITY IS MONITORED IN ORDER TO MANAGE SYSTEMS, MAKE THEM FULLY COMPATIBLE, AND INTEGRATE ALL ASPECTS OF HUMAN LIFE. THE GOAL IS NO BORDERS, NO RESISTANCE, AND NO LIMITS ON CORPORATE POWER.
UN AGENDA 21 IS THE BLUEPRINT, THE ACTION PLAN TO FULLY GLOBALIZE THE WORLD'S SYSTEMS.
Here's a quote from the Australian report:
Local Agenda 21 is being promoted by a range of organisations nationally and internationally.
OUR LAWSUIT (Post Sustainability Institute, Rosa Koire, and Michael Shaw v Metropolitan Transportation Commission and Association of Bay Area Governments)
AGAINST MTC/ABAG WAS FILED OCTOBER 2013. YOUR FUNDING ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED TO KEEP THIS MAJOR CHALLENGE TO REGIONAL GOVERNANCE ALIVE. CLICK HERE TO DONATE NOW.
The Post Sustainability Institute strongly objects to the tremendous overreach of Plan Bay Area in the imposition of regional governance over the voters and their elected representatives in the nine county, 101 city San Francisco Bay Area. The elevation of an unelected, unrepresentative body over the people of these municipalities is a violation of the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the US and California constitutions. We assert that the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Association of Bay Area Governments have taken SB 375 and used it to impose an aggressive ideology of land use restrictions and regionalization. Regional governance inserts a layer of unelected boards between local government and the federal and state grant makers/funders. This regional layer (MTC/ABAG), unaccountable to the electorate, sets up de facto mandates for local government--effectively using money as a lure and a bludgeon to cities and counties desperate for funds. As more and more regions are created and imposed on local and state governments across the nation there will be less local control. Local government will exist solely to implement regional regulations administratively without meaningful input from the voters.
The necessity for government subsidies or changes to Proposition 13 (California property tax) to implement this Plan is clearly stated in the Plan itself on nearly every page. Restricting development of both residential and commercial uses primarily to highly urbanized city centers even when the real estate and economic markets do not support it is a recipe for failure and debt. The entire plan is a house of cards based on a financing scheme that does not exist in California: Redevelopment. Redevelopment debt has had a crippling impact on California; bonded debt for redevelopment in our state had reached $81 billion by 2007 and was doubling every 10 years. (Redevelopment: The Unknown Government, Municipal Officials for Redevelopment Reform, 2007). The reinstatement or reinvention of tax increment financing for private development imposes a generational debt requiring 20-40 years of payments to bond brokers. Schemes for assembling and acquiring privately owned fully-developed land parcels in the Priority Development Areas will, as stated in the Plan, require eminent domain. Eminent domain is intended for public use only, and the perversion of the concept of public use to acquire land for private benefit will not be tolerated in California. In any case, at the time that Plan Bay Area is scheduled for adoption (July 18, 2013) none of these potential funding schemes is in effect, therefore the Plan fails the feasibility requirement of SB 375.
Plan Bay Area and SB 375 are predicated on the implementation of Sustainable Development. Sustainable Development was formally defined in the 1987 United Nations publication Our Common Future written by the UN World Commission on Environment and Development (referred to as the Brundtland Commission). Sustainable Development is defined as:
Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
All that remained was to state that our current activities and means of living were ‘compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’ and then decide what to do about it.
After Our Common Future was presented to the UN General Assembly in 1987 the World Commission on Environment and Development (Brundtland Commission) was tasked with designing strategies for achieving Sustainable Development by the year 2000. At the Rio Earth Summit in June, 1992, the Brundtland Commission came back with the action plan for implementing Sustainable Development globally: Agenda 21. Referred to as the Agenda for the 21st Century, this document was agreed to by 179 nations, including President George H.W. Bush.
William Clinton was elected President in November, 1992, and six months later he issued Executive Order #12852 which created the President’s Council on Sustainable Development (PCSD). It first met in the summer of 1993; and continued until 1999. The members of the PCSD included Cabinet Secretaries for Transportation, Agriculture, Education, Commerce, Housing and Urban Development, Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Administration, Energy, Interior, and Defense. Representing business were CEOs for Pacific Gas and Electric, Enron (Ken Lay), BP Amoco, and Dow Chemical, among others. Environmental organizations rounded out the balance with the Natural Resources Defense Council, Sierra Club, World Resources Institute, the Nature Conservancy, and the Environmental Defense Fund being the most notable.
The PCSD immediately began laying the groundwork for implementing Agenda 21 in the United States. The goal was to change public policy to bring it into alignment with the new agenda for the 21st century. The PCSD formalized its recommendations in ‘Sustainable America—A New Consensus.’
In the PCSD’s list of vital elements to incorporate into their recommendations they included this statement:
‘We need a new collaborative decision process that leads to better decisions, more rapid change, and more sensible use of human, natural, and financial resources in achieving our goals.’
A new collaborative decision process. The new definition for consensus is the neutralization of expressed opposition.
In the old way of doing things, the democratic way, an issue is put before the voters and they vote on it directly, or they have a representative who reviews the issues, debates them publicly, and then votes. If the voters are not satisfied with the outcome, they can initiate a referendum or vote out the representative.
‘Sustainable America—A New Consensus’ does not allow for actual dissent. There can be no opportunity for failure in implementing Agenda 21. In fact the Cabinet Secretaries reported that they could implement approximately two thirds of the PCSD’s recommendations administratively. However, it is not desirable that citizens notice that they are not being given a choice in the most important issues of their lives, so they are given the illusion that they are making decisions for themselves. The real meaning of consensus is to take away your voice and leave you feeling as if you are the only one who has some problem with the results. The President’s Council on Sustainable Development incorporated the Delphi Technique into its recommendations so that ‘more rapid change’ could be imposed on us through clever manipulation. The Delphi Technique was used by MTC/ABAG and their consultants in their ‘visioning meetings’ in order to manipulate the outcome. Although they will say that they have never heard of the Delphi Technique they are in fact using it to direct public opinion, ignore or marginalize dissent, and declare ‘consensus’ on their preferred alternative.
Sustainable Development/UN Agenda 21 is exemplified in the Plan Bay Area documents by the push for high density urban development in city centers by any means necessary while starving the rural and suburban areas for funds and development. Using tactics better suited to criminal gangs, MTC/ABAG is hoping to slam through the most aggressive regional plan in the United States. UN Agenda 21 is a global plan implemented locally, and this is the Plan for the SF Bay Area. Similar plans can be found throughout the United States and the world with names like Envision Utah, Imagine Calgary, Granite State Future, PlaNY, One Valley One Vision, Horizon 2025 (Ontario, Canada), and Hanoi (Viet Nam) Regional Center 2030 Plan. All of these plans are the same plan with the same goal: move people out of the rural and suburban areas into the city centers where they can be more easily managed, controlled, and surveilled. This is not a conspiracy theory, it is a conspiracy fact. No amount of government-sponsored shaming, mocking, marginalizing, or lying about those of us speaking the truth can change this fact. The people of the United States of America and of the State of California will not be a party to this plan to destroy private property and civil rights. We intend to fight Plan Bay Area and we intend to win.
Small business. The chance to conceive an idea and bring it to fruition has appealed to those who hoped to work for themselves and develop a dream into an independent reality. All across the world men and women buy and resell, make, bake, craft, and create goods and services that they hope to grow into something that will enable them to support themselves and their families. UN Agenda 21 pretends to support that process but, like all of its rhetoric, this too is a lie.
The concept of 'capacity building' pervades UN Agenda 21's 300 pages but out in the world the NGO-driven pretense of developing local economies is masking the real goal: destroy independence and eliminate competition for global corporations.
Here is just one example of methods used to destroy independence and small business:
My last post, The Gap Year, mentions that upper and middle class US students working with non-governmental organizations are sent to lesser developed countries (LDC's) in order to 'teach' the poor about micro-finance. In passing you'll note that these high school students have no experience with or specialized information about micro-finance and are themselves financed by parents paying between $10,000 and $45,000 for their third world vacation. In the post-UN Agenda 21 world, sending high school students to 'teach' the poor how to be successful is really about teaching the high school students how to be poor and find it virtuous in the face of their tremendous first-world shame.
What is micro-finance and what is it doing to the poor of the world? Touted as a way to 'empower the poor, women, youth, minorities, indigenous, under-represented etc', micro-finance is extremely popular with non-profit groups acting as the lowest level of bureaucracy of first world governments. These NGOs act to covertly implement foreign policy and the policy of UN Agenda 21. Micro-finance provides small loans directly to small, often one person businesses in order to assist them in getting started. A charming proposal, but what is the reality?
A February 23, 2014 article in the New York Times and this article in the Business Insider detail just a few of the stories that have filled the news over the last five years. All tell of the miserable struggles that rural Indians are facing through small loan defaults. Debt and spiraling interest payments drive these inexperienced borrowers to suicide. In a horrific nod to the feudal era, the families of the borrowers in India, Cambodia, Kenya, Uganda and other countries are responsible for their family-members' debts. Known in pre-twentieth century England as 'entailments,' generational debts are still a devastating crippler of the future across the world. Early American law did away with the entail and ended the practice of chaining future generations to the debt of their ancestors. Present-day micro-finance, pushed by UN Agenda 21 change agents viewing themselves as the saviors of the poor, are destroying fledgling businesses and families across the developing world for generations. Children are born with personal debt---debt that must be paid. For some people suicide seems like the only answer to the tremendous stress in rural areas. According to the NYT article, "the suicide rate for farmers is nearly three times the national average...with global competition and rising costs cutting into their lean profits, their ranks are dwindling."
Yes, small businesses, farmers in rural India, are trying to compete on the global stage and are falling victim to the true goals of UN Agenda 21.
EXPOSE UN AGENDA 21. SPEAK OUT. RESIST.
The Gap Year. What is it? As most middle and upper class parents of high school students are discovering, The Gap Year is the year following graduation from high school when college is delayed for a year or more to 'help the student find his or her purpose.' Rather than wasting a year in college drinking, smoking dope, and drifting about without direction, the student is channeled into an international program to 'give back.' These programs are big business now (click here to see the USA Gap Year Fair) and are mainly designed to send 17-20 year-old white middle and upper class kids into third world countries like Guatemala and Uganda where they can use their 'skills' to teach the locals to develop their economy. That's the story parents and students hear.
Of course that's not the bottom line. The real purpose of The Gap Year is to separate students from their families and from their values and expectations, and help them develop a sense of shame and guilt for their privileged lifestyle that they'll (hopefully) retain for the rest of their lives. This is often referred to as Transformative Learning. They'll be indoctrinated with the religious philosophy of the Far East---give in, give up, accept what is, give back, serve others, renounce the self, trust emotions over facts, humility, live with less, donate, donate, donate, volunteer, volunteer, volunteer---and continue the process of working with a cohort in a collective in order to actualize the dreams of others. One of the major lessons students learn is that information is less important than feelings. Information can be found in a computer, but true value is found in the heart. Instead of developing and acquiring knowledge, the student is responding to emotional stimuli. The 'students' are given college credit for this through Antioch University Seattle. The college president's quote is straight out of UN Agenda 21: “Antioch University Seattle is not a traditional four-year university. Our roots are in service and advancing the causes of political, economic, and social equality.” The costs can range from $10,000 to $45,000 for the year depending on the program.
Giving up the self to serve is a philosophy that is not alien to the West, of course. People in religious orders are taught that the self is there only to serve. Fine. Presumably they're accepted into these religious orders after a time in the novitiate proves they're suitable. This is the sort of philosophy (Kant, Hegel, Martin Luther) that made it possible for the Nazis to motivate Germans to dedicate themselves to their Fuhrer. All for the greater good. All for the common good.
Whatever. High school kids are vulnerable and may be leaving their parents for the first time. They're going to Guatemala and Uganda and India to see squalor and try to 'alleviate it'. They'll be 'teaching' micro-finance to villagers or serving 5,000 Sikhs at a festival for their educational year abroad. Rather than acquiring knowledge, these students will be at their most vulnerable, in stressed conditions of poverty and danger, and will be taking responsibility for the life conditions of others. Is their instruction going to focus on the obvious question: Where is all the aid money going when it's sent to these countries? Instead of seeing that major local and international corruption and corporatization has impoverished whole nations, the message will be that one planet, one family, one future is the philosophy that will save the world from greedy people like your parents.
Here's a posting on the Facebook page of one of The Gap Year purveyors:
There is an expectation in China that a teacher will take responsibility not only for a student's academic progress but also for their development as a person. When did we lose sight of this in our culture?
WHAT? These for-profit partners in UN Agenda 21 are training young adults to be change agents.
LEAPNOW – our primary purpose is nothing less than transformation and ... that explores the essential question: “How can I be a proactive agent of change?
Here's a quote from LeapNow.org (LEAPYEAR2) that you'll appreciate:
The purpose of The Gap Year is to cement the relationship of the vulnerable student with a collective, to use a sort of shock treatment to break the student's connection to her family and culture, and to further the goals of UN Agenda 21: one world without borders, regulations, restrictions, or limitations for mega-corporations.
The Gap Year is an opportunity to use social manipulation and behavioral modification to mold the New Man, the Sustainable Man for the New Age: obedient, passive, convinced of his non-evident brilliance and goodness, humble and willing to work for nothing, and dependent on the approval of the collective.
UN Agenda 21/Sustainable Development crafts the new consciousness of the New Man.
