Suppose I told you that you could get your room for free, your food for free, your clothes for free, and your education for free. What's the catch?
You're in prison.
None of that is free. You pay. Your property taxes, sales taxes, and income taxes pay for those pretty ideas, and the prison walls get a little closer all the time. Who loses? Seniors, the middle class, all of us. It's just like a horror film where the pretty girl becomes a vampire. Money is expended for more and more layers of government, more boards and commissions, more public/private partnerships where if you think you're one of the chosen you'll soon discover that you're RECYCLABLE. No loyalty.
It won't be long before no one is left who remembers what it was like to live with enough. Desperation for money and food will drive people to do terrible things. Especially people in big cities who have no 'community.' You see, the rhetoric about 'creating community' is a lie. They, ICLEI, are destroying community. You feel it don't you? Just one person can do a lot now. YOU. Get out there and pass out flyers. An hour a day. Every morning a different part of your city--WALK IT, BIKE IT, DRIVE IT. POST THOSE FLYERS AND KICK ICLEI OUT.
